7 Wonders of the World

 


       



Many such things in our world are good to see, hear and know. And some even have a beautiful history. There are some such beautiful buildings and monuments in our history too, the story behind which is very interesting. There are many such buildings and monuments in the world, but only a few of them are on the list of seven wonders of the world.


In 2000, a campaign to select 7 Wonders was launched by the Swiss foundation 7 Wonders. Of the many unique antiquities, only 7 historical buildings and monuments were selected, which we will read about in detail.

1. Colosseum

  • The Colosseum is one of the largest amphitheaters in the world. It was built many years ago in 80 AD. At the time of its creation, there was a Flavian Empire. That was the Roman Empire. The Colosseum is also known as the Flavian Amphitheater because it was built by the Flavian emperors.

  • It is located in Rome [Italy]. The Colosseum is located in the center of the city of Rome. It has a seating capacity of more than 50000 spectators. in today's time.

  • The Colosseum is facing many difficulties. The upper half of the Colosseum collapsed due to earthquakes and pollution caused dirt on the walls of the Colosseum.

  • It is a tourist destination and people from all over the world come to visit here.

2. Machu Picchu

  • Machu Picchu is a former Spanish-Inca civilization site located more than 8000 feet above sea level. The site is located above the Urubamba Valley in Peru.
  • It is a hill town. Machi Picchu is known as the city of the Inca. It was built around 1450 to 1460. It was abandoned for over 100 when the Spanish arrived. Machu Picchu was discovered by Hiram Bingham in 1911. It is located 80 km from Cusco in the middle of two mountains.
  • Machu Picchu is one of the archaeological sites being researched today. It is one of the most popular places in Peru that attracts many people from all over the world. It costs a lot every year as the number of tourists is increasing every year.

3. Petra

  • Petra was built many years ago in the 5th century. Petra was built by the Nabateans [its local people]. It is located in Mann Governorate, which comes in the country of Jordan.
  • Amman, the Jordanian capital, was located about 150 miles from there, between the Red Sea and Syria, at the time being the center of commerce by this route. Petra's color is very unique, so it is called Raku and Rose Sahar. Also known as. Petra is primarily admired for its ideal architecture, its intricate structure, quality, and unmistakable mere shape.
  • There is a sand-like rock on either side of Petra which seems to be very calm. It is a very beautiful city which is hidden behind the mountains. People come from far and wide to see it and be mesmerized by its beauty.
4. Taj Mahal


You must have known about the Taj Mahal and many of you must have seen it, but today we will talk about the specialty of the Taj Mahal that why it is so great, historical, and famous.
  • The Taj Mahal is located in the city of Agra, Uttar Pradesh. It was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan from 1632 to 1652. It was made after nearly 20 years of continuous hard work.
  • The Taj Mahal is made entirely of marble stone, which was built by Shah Jahan. Ordered bring marble stones from Turkey by more than a thousand elephants. The specialty of this stone is that it keeps changing its color with time.
  • More than 20,000 workers were employed to build it. It is said that Shah Jahan cut off the hands of these 20000 laborers. The Taj Mahal is situated on the banks of Yamuna.
  • After the death of Shah Jahan's wife, Shah Jahan got the Taj Mahal built in her memory. After the construction of the Taj Mahal, Shah Jahan buried his wife's grave in the Taj Mahal itself. The Taj Mahal is a symbol of love.

5. The Christ the Redeemer

  • The Christ the Redeemer Statue is located on Mount Corcovado in Rio de Janeiro. It is known by another name Christo Redentor. Its height is about 125 feet and its weight is 635 tons.
  • This statue is of Jesus Christ and this statue is made with both hands open, it means that Jesus Christ has taken the whole of Brazil in his arms.
  • It was constructed from 1922 to 1931. It was designed by Paul Landowski and engineer Heitor da Silva Costa. It is one of the most famous places in Brazil.
  • Every year the number of tourists is increasing here. Its construction was talked about in 1850. The Catholic priest first proposed the idea to build it, but his idea was rejected because it took too much finance, then it was later decided to build it in 1921.

6. The Great Wall of China


  • The construction of the Great Wall of China began in the 7th century. The length of the Great Wall of China is more than 13000 km. The height of the wall is between 4 to 9 m. The wall was built by the Qin dynasty and the Ming dynasty. 
  • The Great Wall was built by many people, such as soldiers, forcibly recruited farmers, and prisoners of war; many artisans lost their lives while building this wall. The main purpose of the Great Wall was to protect the border with China but later began to be used for transportation and communication.
  • No one was allowed to write on the Great Wall, but the Ming dynasty wrote the names of each of its workers. Badaling is one of the most famous places of the Great Wall. More than 60 million people visit here every year.

7. Chichen Itza

  • Chichen Itza was built between the 8th century and the 12th century. It was built by the Maya civilization. Chichen Itza was built in two phases, Initially by the Maya civilization and later by the Toltecs when it was completely occupied. 
  • Chichen Itza is located on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. It is about 100 miles from Kuculan. It is also known as El Castillo and Kuculan Temple. A variety of architectural styles have been found here.
  • It mysteriously disappeared between the 12th and 15th centuries. Several factors are speculated for its ends, such as earthquakes, and the arrival of the Spanish. Maya city was discovered in 1841 by two great explorers John Lloyd and Frederick Woodwood.
